Rod, excellent podcast. A quick web search provides various sites which suggest the tribe of Dan associated with 5 emblems; serpent, horse, lions whelp, scales, eagle. Some have suggested Reuben, Judah, Ephraim, and Dan are connected to the 4 beasts in Ezekiel 1 and Rev. 4.
Reuben: man. Judah: lion. Ephraim: ox. Dan: eagle.
Jacob blessed Dan calling him a serpent by the way. Moses blessed Dan referencing him as a lions whelp.
It is interesting to note Dan was removed from the list of 12 tribes. Most agree this was the result of idolatry. Manasseh replaced Dan temporarily but also fell into idolatry.
As you stated, scripture does not specify the eagle as the distinct standard for Dan. Exodus 19 is where the reference of eagle could describe a prophetic symbolism.
“…bare you out on eagles wings.”
It is clear that WB utilized every possible symbol, type, shadow, and number to build the platform for his ministry.
It is also clear that since Jesus Christ cried out at Calvary; “It is finished”, and then vindicated that by his ressurection, we no longer need nor live by types, shadows, symbols, and numerology.
We live by faith in the Son of God according to a sure word of prophecy says the scripture.
Jesus made it very plain and simple by stating he was the good shepherd, the door to the sheepfold, the bread of life, the ressurection and the life, the way, the truth, and the life, and on and on we could go.
He is the apostle and high priest of our profession. He is the mediator and the captain of our salvation. Is not those things sufficient? Yes. Amen.
John said he was the “lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” and the “baptizer of the Holy Ghost.” What else do we need? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
The scripture tells us the gospel is so plain and simple “a child shall not err therein.” We are not mandated to get muddled up in a conglomeration of alleged types and shadows pursued by sensationalists.
No apostle in the New Testament spent the time WB did bombarding the people with types, shadows, numerology, and symbolism to preach the gospel or emphasise their ministries. They preached Christ and him crucified and proved the prophet’s prophecies were vindicated in Jesus Christ.
